Keep Property Taxes Low
Property taxes can place a large burden on families and businesses, even when their property is owned outright. I’m committed to working tirelessly to further reduce property tax rates across Harnett County by streamlining county operations and increasing efficiency to reduce unnecessary spending. By fostering a more tax-friendly environment, we will broaden the tax base and allow for lower rates while maintaining quality public services.
Provide for Quality Education
As chairman of the Harnett County school board, I’ve had a front-row seat to address a wide range of issues affecting our students, teachers, and schools. We’ve made substantial progress, and there’s more work to be done. As your next county commissioner, I will fight to attract and retain the best teachers, involve parents in the oversight of their children’s education, and improve test scores in our school district. My vision is to make Harnett County Schools the best in the state.
Protect Farmland & Ensure Responsible Growth
Harnett County is a great place to live, work, and raise a family. To keep it that way AND continue to improve, we must ensure that our growth benefits ALL residents while protecting our farmland, and preserving our landscapes and communities. I’ll work with my fellow commissioners to develop and implement a plan for smart, sustainable development that balances economic growth with environmental stewardship. We will enhance our infrastructure without compromising the county’s natural beauty and quality of life — and without creating traffic congestion.
Transparency & Accountability in Government
Transparency and accountability are fundamental to good governance. I’m dedicated to building trust within the community by ensuring open communication and clear reporting of county operations and spending. I will advocate for regular public meetings and updates on county projects and initiatives to ensure every decision is made openly and in the best interest of Harnett County residents.
Enhance Public Safety
Everyone in our community should feel safe in their neighborhoods, at the store, and on the streets anywhere in Harnett County. As a retired law enforcement officer, I know that supporting our sheriff’s office and police departments is critical to securing our safety. I will work with our law enforcement community to help recruit and retain officers with competitive wages. These steps are crucial to maintaining a capable, responsive, and well-staffed police force that can effectively ensure the safety and security of Harnett County residents.
